Transcript: 1 Kings 1 Adonijah was a very greedy man. He wanted to become king after David so he went behind his father David's back and got lots of people to believe him that he was going to be king next. He sacrificed sheep, cattle, and fattened calves to "prove" that he was really going to be the next king. Adonijah invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the royal officials of Judah, but he didn't invite Nathan the prophet or Benaiah or the special guard or his brother Solomon... So Bathsheba and Nathan too went to David and asked him if he knew about Adonijah's evil little plan. Turns out David had no idea what was going on. So David told Bathsheba that their son SOLOMON shall be king after David. Then he got Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet to go and anoint Solomon king over Israel and to blow the trumpets and shout, 'Long live King Solomon!' After hearing all of this, Adonijah was in alarm of course. He was scared of Solomon though, so he went and took hold of the horns of the altar and said for Solomon not to kill him. Solomon agreed that Adonijah stay alive as long as he doesn't show evil in himself. 1 Kings 1:52 Solomon replied, "If he shows himself to be worthy, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground; but if evil is found in him, he will die." In this verse Solomon is sparing Adonijah's life if he promises to live his life without evil showing in him. This verse can be applied to our lives today. God calls us to live our lives without evil. If one has evil in there life, and they don't ever except Christ, the harsh truth is that they will "die" or go to hell. David...David...David...

Transcript: In conclusion, these verses are the epitome of what God wants us to do in our lives. He wants us to show people his love, through us on earth. And these verses do a great job illustrating it. Matthew 5:40-42 These verses are extremely powerful because they break the sinful behavior that is natural to us. When someone hits us it's natural for us to want to hit them back, but God says "If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also", these verses challenge us to submit to punishment because it what God wants us to do and what Jesus has done for us so that we may show us love to other people through action. You have heard that it was said, Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Again God wants us to show his love for us through us, God says " ask and you shall receive", so shouldn't we emulate his example? God doesn't turn us away like beggars when we ask him for things, so should we turn other needy people away? No God wants us to lead by example. What are these verses message? Matthew 5:38-39 Matthew 5:38-48 These verses tell us that it is so much easier to love those that love you, but the real challenge is loving those who do you evil deeds to you. God wants us to show his love to people by loving on them. You can make a difference in peoples lives even if they don't like you, just by showing them God's love. Matthew 5:46-48 Matthew 5:43-45 These verses tell us that instead of lashing out against someone who has wronged us, we should instead forgive them, and show God's love through forgiveness and humility. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. God is telling us to love those who hurt and and cause us grief and to bless those who do not bless us, and that in the end he will judge righteousness and unrighteousness. Eye for an Eye and Love your Enemies
